I’ve had many questions about how our lessons will continue while schools are closed and we try to stop the spread of COVID-19, as well as how to disinfect flutes. Hopefully I can answer all of these in this post.
How can I clean my flute?
If you are not sure about any of these steps, contact me please! Don’t mess up your flute!
Continuing Lessons
In an abundance of caution for all of us, I will be moving to online lessons for everyone. Several of you have had FaceTime lessons over the last several weeks and it seems to work well. Starting next week, I will be using Zoom which should make the sound quality better for both of us. There is an app available for phones that you will need to install prior to our lesson. Using a computer will provide better sound quality for both of us, so that’s my preference if you have one available.
Since your schedules might be a little more open, we can do a lesson at a different time or even different day if that works better for you. If I do not hear from you about rescheduling, I will assume that our lesson will happen at the normal time and I will provide you with a Zoom Meeting ID the day of our lesson.
Once schools allow students on campus again, I will resume my normal schedule and locations.
March 28 Recital
The church where our recital is scheduled sent an email out this morning informing everyone that the buildings are closed until further notice, so we have no venue as of now, and should be cautious here as well. Over the next several weeks I should be able to come up with a rescheduled plan (that might involve waiting until June again – this is 2 years in a row!).
FOR NOW, THE MARCH 28 RECITAL IS CANCELED. THE PRACTICE CHALLENGE IS STILL GOING ON AND I WILL ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS ON MARCH 28!
Be safe. Clean your flute. Practice. Practice A LOT! You have nothing but time, so learn that scale that’s been tripping you up. Keep working on your recital music – we will perform! See you at our next lesson!
I am also available for any questions or assistance on school music assignments you have to do online.
